Our Beliefs

A Statement of Faith adopted by the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina as well as the Wardens and Vestry of St. Matthias’ Church can be found HERE.

In 2017, The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina voted and was received as a member diocese of the Anglican Church in North America.  The Anglican Church in North America was formed as a province in 2009 as a result of the inaugural meeting of the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans held in Jerusalem of 2008.

St. Matthias’ Church was established as a mission congregation in 1899, when this congregation began worshiping in the church that is still in use today.  St. Matthias’ Church maintains its consistent and unwavering orthodox Anglican heritage today as a member of The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina.

The Bishop of The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina is The Right Reverend Charles Edgar III.
