The seond part of the Triduum three-part liturgy (Church). The sacred service recalls the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. The service begins as a continuation of Maundy Thursday’s service as we remember the Lord upon the cross and His death.

Holy Saturday concludes the Triduum as we remember the loneliness and confusion, emptiness and fear, as our Lord lays dead in the tomb. There will be no service on Holy Saturday, just quiet as the Sabbath would have been nearly 2,000 years ago.

The Readings are:

• Genesis 22:1–18 or Isaiah 52:13–53:12

• Psalm 22:1–21 or 22:1–11 or Psalm 40:1–16 or Psalm 69:1–22

• Hebrews 10:1–25

• John 18:1–19:37 or 19:1–37
